Gibson Byrdland #4: 1962
Byrdland #4, referred to as Blondie, has been a staple of Ted’s guitar arsenal for decades.
Videos from the 70’s show it in pristine condition. Nowadays, after many years of use, the nitro finish has disappeared and the wood underneath the high strings is very worn down.
Ted used a similar looking blonde Byrdland, #8, during the Cat Scratch Fever era. It disappeared long ago. How to spot the difference? When watching live concert footage, look for black pickup rings on #4. Missing blonde #8 has white pickup rings.
#4 was also used extensively on the Full Bluntal Nugity DVD and live at the Capital Center 1980 in Largo, MD.
